바다에 배를 띄움(泛海)

 

고운 최치원

 

掛席浮滄海  長風萬里通

乘차思漢使  採藥憶秦童

日月無何外  乾坤太極中

蓬萊看咫尺  吾且訪仙翁

 

 

배를 푸른 바다에 띄우니
긴 바람 만리(萬里) 를 통하였네
뗏목 탔든 한(漢)나라 사신(使臣)이 생각나고①
불사약(不死藥)을 구하든 진(秦)나라 동자(童子)가 기억나네②

해와 달은 허공(虛空)밖에 있고

하늘과 땅은 태극(太極)의 가운데일세

봉래산(蓬萊山)이 지척(咫尺)인듯

내 우선 신선을 찾아 보리라

 

 

As I let my boat sail on the blue sea,
With a strong steady wind ten thousands miles sailing seems to be no problem.
The envoy from Han Dynasty who floated on a raft of log came to mind,
So also those kids of Qin Dynasty who were seeking for the medicine for immortality.

Sun and Moon are hung in the air, and
Heaven and earth are in the midst of the great span.
Mt. BongRae seems to be quite near,
I shall seek first the Taoist hermit with miraculous powers.

 

 

 

① 한(漢)나라 사신(使臣) 장건(張騫)이 뗏목을 타고 멀리 은하(銀河)에 갔다는 고사(故事)
According to an ancient legend, JangGeon, the envoy from Han Dynasty went all the way to milkyway by a log raft.

② 진시황(秦始皇)이 불사약(不死藥)을 구하기 위하여 동남 동녀(童男童女) 오백 사람을  해도(海島)로 보냈다는 고사.
According to ancient story, the first Emperor of Qin Dynasty, Qin Shi Huang, sent out 500 boys and girls to islands in the sea to seek out the medicine for immortality.
